Multi-currency cards are multi-account cards linked to accounts maintained in different currencies. As with standard multi-account cards, the multi-currency cards can be used on POS and ATMs to draw from more than one currency account. But in contrast to the standard multi-account card, the linked accounts do not have to be maintained in the same currency. For example, if a cardholder has a primary account denominated in USD and another account denominated in EUR, the customer can use the same card to purchase and withdraw funds from both of these accounts. The dollar amount withdrawn from the EUR account is automatically converted to the primary account currency (in this case, USD) based on the exchange rates set by the bank for the business day. The multi-currency card can be linked to two or more currency accounts.
